Gustav Metzger - Facing Extinction. Artist Short Film Programme

As part of Facing Extinction - The Exhibition in collaboration with UCA Farnham Fine Art and Gustav Metzger, a screening of artists short film will be screene from Monday 31st until Saturday 15th March.

The programme includes artists, animators, and filmmakers selected from an international open call.

Simon Aeppli, Claire Barwell, Amanda Couch, Barnaby Dicker, Thomas Goddard, Joy Gregory, Ellie Harrison, Evy Jokhova, Miyuki Kasahara & Calum F Kerr, Simona Koch, London Fieldworks, Grant Petrey, Antje Seeger, Vishal Shah, and Vicky Smith.

Gustav Metzger will be attending the screenings on Monday 31st March.

UCA Farnham Fine Art Student Success - Alicia Tsigarides

UCA Farnham Fine Art student Alicia Tsigarides, who graduated in 2009, has a residency from March until May at Hayles and Howe. This opportunities at the specialists plaster company will provide Alicia to engage with new working processes and respond to the environment and history of Hayles and Howe to expand the concerns of her sculpture practice.

Greig Bourgoyne in We Are Oak Wood Passage at Stour Valley Arts

UCA Farnham Fine Art tutor, Greig Bourgoyne has work exhibiting at Stour Valley Arts in Kent alongside UCA Professor Andrew Kotting.

Greig's new works of drawings are exhibited from 19th until 29th March.

Grant Petrey in Sweet FA. A Journey Through Artists Film, at Plymouth Arts Centre

UCA Farnham Fine Art & Arts & Media tutor, Grant Petrey has work screening this week at the Plymouth Arts Centre as part of the artists film programme Sweet FA. The programme is delivered in collaboration with Sundog Media with support from Plymouth University, and features talks by collaborative film makers Kayla Parker and Stuart Moore.

Sweet FA is a year-long programme that introduces and investigates filmmaking and moving image in contemporary visual arts. It is a structured course for adults who want to know more about artist’s film, and is also suitable for the curious and bemused as well as artists, filmmakers, students and film lovers. Participants can attend all sessions or select those of most interest to them. Sessions are individually priced and some will be free.

UCA Farnham Fine Art Student Success - Anna Garrett

Anna Garrett, who is currently in her final year studying painting on the BA (Hons) Fine Art course at UCA Farnham, has been offered a solo exhibition by Footfall Arts.

Anna exhibited her work representing UCA, late last year in Amsterdam as part of the Hans Brinker Painting Prize, and the attention this brought her has resulted in this exciting opportunity.

Anna's first solo exhibition, ahead of graduating, will be titled 'Fluore$cent' and is due to open on 7th April until the end of the month.

UCA Farnham Fine Art Student Success - Adam Kelly

UCA Farnham Fine Art student Adam Kelly, who graduated last year, has gone on to exhibit his work in numerous exhibitions and currently has a solo exhibition at Macai in Bermondsey, London, via Footfall Arts until 5th April.

UCA Farnham Fine Art Student Success - Kate MccGwire

UCA Farnham Fine Art Alumni, Kate MccGwire has two separate exhibitions starting in March and running through to May 2014. As a mark of her continued success Kate has a total of eight national and international exhibitions this year alone.

After graduating Kate went on to study at postgraduate level at the RCA and her work is in a number of collections, including: Saatchi Gallery Collection, Thomas Olbricht Collection, The Reydan Weiss Collection and numerous private collections worldwide.

Paul Vivian, UCA Farnham Fine Art course leader for BA (Hons) Fine Art, BA (Hons) Arts & Media and MA Fine Art, is is Prague this week presenting a research paper exploring notions of trauma and collage.

Facing Extinction, The Exhibition, Fine Art Student Responses

Students studying Fine Art at UCA Farnham submitted proposals considering the theme of Gustav Metzger and UCA collaboration "Facing Extinction". With Metzger's participatory work "Mass Media: Today & Yesterday" as the centre piece of the exhibition, students have produced work and spoken with Gustav Metzger about their responses.
