Year 1 Fine Art "CITY GAMES" Exhibition in the Linear Gallery

BA (Hons) Fine Art year 1 students have their 3rd exhibition on the UCA Farnham campus. Part B of their induction project has just opened in the Linear Gallery for the exhibition "CITY GAMES".

Following on from their study and response to the Valasquez painting Las Meninas, year 1 students where asked to consider exploring the questions raised by "the gaze' in the urban environment.

Students approached the idea of watching and appearing to engage with opposing concepts of the "flaneur" and the "dandy" to either critically observe or intervene with the environment in London at the end of week 1.

Still and moving image work make up this exhibition of selected student work.

UCA Farnham Fine Art Year 1 Students in their Studio Spaces!

UCA Farnham BA (Hons) Fine Art students have had a very busy Induction! After their 1st exhibition opened in the Linear Gallery and visits to London to develop project work, they worked collaboratively with Fine Art students in year 2 and 3 for their first public project "The Institute of Last Lost...."
They then visited museums and galleries in London for project research and also attended the inaugural Black Box Curatorial Project Space opening with the work of invited artist Suraya Fatha. They attended an artist talk in the James Hockey Gallery with current artist in residence Barbara Walker and alumni exhibiting artist Julia Keenan.
Most importantly they also worked together to configure and set up their studio spaces so that they can produce work for their next exhibition in 3 weeks time!
Watch this space!
